Clubs and OrganisationsAs well the Twinning Association Colney Heath has a number of other organisations and clubs. Amongst these are: The Football Club, founded in 1907 and nicknamed the "Magpies". They play in the South Midlands Football League Premier Division and are based at the recreation ground behind the Primary School. The North London Society of Model Engineers have their Stationary Steam and Traction Engine, Marine and Garden Railway sections based at a site in Church Lane next to the water works.
The Colney Heath Womens Institute, formed in 1953, meet in the Village Hall on the second Thursday of every month at 7.30pm for talks on many diverse subjects from crafts and homecraft to international affairs. Autumn Show This is a recent innovation. It is held each September in the Village Hall. There are over 40 categories to compete in covering fruit and vegetables, flowers, preserves and cookery, as well as arts and crafts and a children's section. |
